Leeds United transfer rumours: Rodrigo De Paul boost, Florentino Luis linked, striker demand made

Leeds United kick off their Premier League campaign later this evening, as they face last season’s champions Liverpool.

There’s been plenty of preparation for the Whites leading up to this game - with Marcelo Bielsa making six signings as they prepare for life back in the top flight.

There’s still just under a month left of this summer’s transfer window, and if reports are to be believed, the business at Elland Road is not completed just yet.

With that being said, here is the very latest round-up of Leeds transfer rumours.

Former striker tips Leeds to sign two new players

Noel Whelan believes Leeds will make at least two new signings during the summer transfer window - and one of them should be another striker.

The Whites have already been extremely busy during the window, but their former forward believes Bielsa’s work isn’t done yet.

Whelan told Football Insider: “I do feel goals are going to win you games and having a centre-forward, or competition in those positions, is a must.

“I don’t think the transfers are finished right now, I still think there may possibly be a couple that come through the door at Elland Road.”

Leeds linked with Benfica midfielder

Leeds are “at the window” to sign Benfica midfielder Florentino Luis, according to a report in Tuttomercatoweb.

However, the Whites could face competition from fellow Premier League new boys Fulham, who also hold a keen interest in the midfielder.

The report states that Fulham have already failed with two bids for Luis, paving the way for Victor Orta to join the discussions.

The 21-year-old has been compared to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante in the past, with his ability to cover a lot of ground all over the pitch.

Leeds handed boost in De Paul race

Reported Leeds target Rodrigo De Paul has rejected a move to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg this summer, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

Last month, the Telegraph claimed that De Paul was a priority target for the Whites, with the 26-year-old expected to cost around £25million.

It seems that Zenit are also keen on the Udinese midfielder, but it appears that the feeling is not mutual, as De Paul has rejected a chance to join the Russian club, the report states.

However, it also says that De Paul may be holding out for a move to another Serie A side.
