Leeds United transfer rumours: Rodrigo de Paul blow as insight given into Sam Greenwood loan

Leeds United may have been soundly dispatched by a blistering Manchester United last weekend, but hopes are still high for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

An encouraging summer window has added greater quality to the playing squad, while excellent performances against Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool prove that the Whites can handle the Premier League.

But now, with the January transfer window just around the corner, Bielsa and co. have plenty more decisions to make.

With that in mind, we have updates on two high-profile potential targets and a loan exit.

Here is a round-up of the latest Leeds transfer rumours.

How will Bielsa improve defence without impacting attack?

Rodrigo de Paul not expecting Leeds approach

Udinese star Rodrigo de Paul is not reportedly expecting a fresh approach from Leeds, who were strongly linked with a move for the Argentinian in the summer window.

The Athletic reports that the feelings in de Paul's camp is that Leeds will not make another approach in the January transfer window.

Leeds were interested in adding to their midfield options in the summer, and de Paul was a key target, but they never came close to reaching Udinese's £35million evaluation.

De Paul's representatives are reportedly considering potential landing spots, but Leeds will seemingly not be one of them next month.

Wednesday Sam Greenwood loan discussed

Sheffield Wednesday could look to sign Leeds' Sam Greenwood on a six-month loan.

When asked about Wednesday's reported interest in Greenwood, Yorkshire Live reporter Dom Howson revealed that he is still investigating the links but added that Wednesday are keen to add players on loan from Premier League clubs next month.

He also added that Tony Pulis may look to add a 'big, physical, aggressive centre-forward' after losing Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu.

Greenwood has scored six goals in eight Premier League 2 games for the under-23 Leeds team. He has not made a senior appearance and could depart in search of regular playing time.

Adama Traore deemed impossible

Speaking to Football Insider, Kevin Phillips revealed his belief that a move for Adama Traore would be difficult to complete.

Traore is reportedly unsettled at Wolves due to his inconsistent playing time. Leeds have been mentioned as a possible landing spot, but Phillips believes that they will struggle to attract Traore.

"That isn’t ever going to happen and that is no disrespect to Leeds," he said. "There will be far bigger clubs looking to sign him. I know Leeds are a big club but they have only just come back into the Premier League.

"If Adama Traore was available there would be a host of clubs interested in taking him.

"Look, it is nice that Leeds are linked with these kinds of players because it shows you just how far they have come in the last two years. I would be amazed if that happened."
