Leeds United transfer rumours: Rangers to rival Whites for former Newcastle goalkeeper

Your Leeds United transfer news for Thursday, March 9.

Rangers to rival Whites

Rangers will tussle with Leeds to sign Preston North End goalkeeper Freddie Woodman. The Scottish Sun are reporting that new Gers boss Michael Beale has ordered his scouts to monitor the 26-year-old.

Woodman, who arrived from Newcastle United last summer, has rejuvenated his career in the Championship, keeping 15 clean sheets. Rangers are understood to be chasing a replacement for long-serving goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Forshaw exit news

Adam Forshaw will be allowed to leave Leeds this summer, according to Football Insider. Another injury-ravaged campaign has resulted in the midfielder only making five Premier League appearances this season.

His contract is up in June but United chiefs have the option to extend by a further year. However, fresh reports now suggest Forshaw will be allowed to leave for nothing.

The 31-year-old has not featured since the 0-0 draw to Newcastle on New Year’s Eve. Even when Forshaw returns from injury, he will be behind Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Marc Roca in the midfield pecking order.

More Toon interest

German outlet Sport1 claim Newcastle are interested in signing Robin Koch. Last summer, reports circulated linking Jack Harrison with a move to St James’ Park.

A hefty £30million price tag is believed to have repelled interest, with Everton’s Anthony Gordon arriving in January. However, the Magpies could return with a move for German international Koch.

The 26-year-old arrived at Leeds after the 2019-20 Championship-winning campaign and has been an ever-present since. Koch is valued by transfermarkt.com at £18million.
