Leeds United transfer rumours: PSG open talks with 'target', fresh goalkeeper links

Leeds United's 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday means it's back-to-back defeats for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The Whites have suffered a bit of a downturn in form, as they still settle back in the Premier League. Bielsa may now have one eye on the January transfer window, with less than two months remaining until it opens.

Here, we have gathered the very latest transfer stories regarding Leeds.

Draxler talks

PSG Sporting Director Leonardo has confirmed that he plans on opening new contract talks with reported Leeds United target Julian Draxler.

The German was linked with a move to Elland Road this summer due to a lack of first-team football.

Draxler's contract is up this summer and, as a result, the club are planning to offer him fresh terms to prevent him talking away for free.

“We’ve started negotiations with Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria to extend their contracts,” Leonardo said in a Q&A session on PSG’s official website.

“Bernat, too, and Draxler is at the end of his contract. Some young people too. We will intensify this.”

Whelan suggests Saint goalkeeper

Leeds United legend Noel Whelan has urged Marcelo Bielsa to consider signing Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster during the January transfer windowl

Forster has not played a game for Saints yet this term and has been acting as an understudy to first-choice Alex McCarthy.

“I think the club will look to sign a goalkeeper in January if it carries on this way, these sort of scorelines, conceding three, conceding four,” Whelan told Football Insider.

“You expect it against Liverpool but not against Leicester and Crystal Palace.

“A more experienced goalkeeper may be able to help Meslier along the way as well. It would take a bit of pressure off him because beforehand, in the Championship, he was well protected but it is very difficult to do that in the Premier League because every team has star men that can hurt you.

“I would like to see a more experienced goalkeeper signed in January. Fraser Forster’s name has been mentioned, I would like to see him there but he is on massive money at Southampton," he added.

Liverpool have Campbell bid accepted

Liverpool have now had a bid accepted for Leeds target Sam Campbell, according to Football Insider.

However, despite the latest development, the Scottish club are still hopeful they can keep hold of the highly-rated 16-year-old.

Campbell has been offered a new three-year deal to stay with Motherwell, and the three clubs interested in him - Leeds, Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion - could potentially miss out on his signature.

The report claims that the Scottish Premier League side have now accepted bids from all three of the interested parties, but remain confident of keeping him.
