Leeds United transfer rumours: Patrick Bamford linked with former club, Pablo Hernandez latest

Leeds United will be looking to bounce back from their home defeat to Everton when they take on Crystal Palace.

Marcelo Bielsa welcomes Roy Hodgson and his side to Elland Road on Monday night, looking for a first home win in 2021.

It’s been a solid start to life back in the Premier League for Leeds, sitting 11th in the table after 21 games, more than comfortably clear of any danger.

After a summer outlay of £100million, the January window was a much quieter affair for Leeds and Bielsa – like the majority of the league – with no incomings.

The rumour mill doesn’t stop, though, and here are the latest Leeds news and rumours.

Summer bid ‘planned’ for Hernandez

CD Castellon are reportedly plotting a move to sign Leeds’ Pablo Hernandez in the summer.

Hernandez was linked with a return to Spain on Deadline Day, although no move materialised, and now the Athletic, via HITC, reports the Segunda Division club which Hernandez himself owns, have not given up hope on securing his signature.

The 35-year-old played a key role in helping Leeds return to the top flight last season, but has only made 10 appearances this term – largely from the bench.

Hernandez started his youth career at Castellon before moving to Valencia. His first switch to England came in 2012 when he joined Swansea City.

Bamford linked with Chelsea return

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford has been linked with a shock return to Chelsea.

Bamford has excelled in the top flight this season, proving many of his doubters wrong, scoring 11 goals and assisting another six in 21 outings.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, that has alerted the attention of new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel already has Timo Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud at his disposal, but the report claims Leeds’ striker is a target for the summer.

Bamford spent five years with Chelsea from 2012 to 2017, but it was a career dominated by loan spells before a permanent switch to Middlesbrough in 2017.

Bundesliga forward ‘open’ to exit

Stuttgart forward Nicolas Gonzalez has reportedly opened the door to a summer exit.

Gonzalez, who has been linked with Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur, has six goals and two assists in 13 Bundesliga appearances so far this term.

The 22-year-old Argentine has previously been linked with a switch to Elland Road and, according to HITC, is said to be keen on an exit from Germany when the window re-opens.
