Leeds United transfer rumours: Pablo Hernandez future claim, Arsenal battle for Whites target

Leeds United suffered a minor setback in their Premier League campaign on Saturday evening, as they threw away a one-goal lead against Chelsea.

The Whites took the lead early on through Patrick Bamford, but were pegged back - with the Blues eventually winning the match 3-1.

Marcelo Bielsa could look to strengthen his squad when the January transfer window opens in just under a months' time.

With that said, we bring you today's latest transfer stories and rumours that concern Leeds.

Hernandez future claim

Danny Mills believes Pablo Hernandez' days at Leeds may be coming to an end in the near future.

When speaking to Football Insider, Mills had his say on Hernandez - who has featured just four times in the Premier League for the Whites this season.

“Time caught up with him a little bit last season. There were times when he was out injured for periods and when he came back in it was off the bench.

“That’s just how it is, you have to deal with that accordingly. As you get to that age it does get harder and harder in those situations.”

Leeds to hand Chikukwa a pro deal

Leeds are set to give second-year scholar Jimiel Chikukwa a professional contract at Elland Road, according to Kevin Phillips.

Chikukwa has scored five goals in five starts for the U18s so far this season, and his fine form is set to be rewarded with a professional deal.

“The club will definitely table him a professional contract,” Phillips told Football Insider.

“I think it is even more important in the current climate we are in to keep hold of your young talent. You cannot afford to let young players go, they are the future of the football club."

Gunners join Stones race

Leeds were reportedly interested in signing Manchester City defender John Stones over the summer, but they look set to face competition for his signature now.

Stones has found it hard to establish himself in Pep Guardiola's team and now Arsenal have asked City to keep them updated on the Englishman's situation, according to 90Min.

The Whites ended up signing Diego Llorente, despite their reported interest in the former Everton centre-back.

Stones featured for City in Saturday's 2-0 win over Fulham - making his fourth league appearance of the season.
