Leeds United transfer rumours: Owner names £40m price tag as winger asks for Whites switch

Ahead of the upcoming Premier League season, Leeds United are yet to make their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Looking to build on their ninth-placed finish last season, the Whites are hoping to bring in some players of real quality for the new campaign to bolster Marcelo Bielsa's squad.

Euro 2020 has made it more difficult for the Whites to be active in the transfer market and sign their primary targets, with players away from their clubs and focussing on international football.

However, that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from whirring in the background, with Leeds linked with lots of fresh faces throughout the window.

With that in mind, LeedsLive has compiled a list of the freshest gossip from across the web.

Sampdoria slap £40m price tag on Damsgaard

Leeds United target Mikkel Damsgaard will cost upwards of £30million.

The Athletic reported that Leeds have held an interest in Denmark winger, who has impressed at Euro 2020.

Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has told to Il SecoloXIX the 20-year-old's pricetag is still rising.

"Did you see that Damsgaard goal? I’ll tell you his fair price, today at least £30million," he said.

"But if he scores again he will reach 40."

Danjuma fancies Leeds move

Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma has claimed he's outgrown the Championship and would like a move to the Premier League, namechecking Leeds United.

The Dutch winger netted 17 goals for the Cherries in 31 starts whilst also registering seven assists.

Danjuma was quickly recognised as one of the division's best talents and Bournemouth's failure to make an immediate return to the Premier League has left huge question marks hanging over his future.

Danjuma, though, has swung the door wide open for a potential summer move, admitting he would like to play for Leeds.

“Leeds is a bigger institution than Bournemouth, has a very nice history and they play Premier League," he told Dutch outlet Voetbal International.

"And I don't think I can play another Championship season, I've outgrown the competition a bit. Leeds United would be a nice step."

Brereton linked with Leeds switch

Leeds have been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton.

The Mail cite a report from Chilean outlet RedGol as their source in a piece on the 22-year-old attacker, claiming Bielsa is a long-term admirer after he caught his eye when Leeds played Blackburn in the Championship two years ago.

Brereton scored seven goals for Rovers last season, with the Lancashire club due to face Leeds in a pre-season friendly next month. He is about to enter the final year of his current deal.
