Leeds United transfer rumours: Nahitan Nandez noise won't stop and another Junior Firpo boost

Leeds United continue to be linked to a number of players as the transfer window begins to click into gear this summer.

The Whites are understood to be keen on acquiring players at left-back, in central midfield and a winger ahead of their second season back in the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa already believes he has a number of the core ingredients at the club and only the right additions will be made to add to an already impressive squad at his disposal.

Here is a round-up of the latest reports on players being linked with a move to Elland Road.

Nahitan Nandez noise continues

While LeedsLive understands the Whites have zero interest in currently taking on Nahitan Nandez, it has not stopped the Italian media.

Leeds United and Cagliari are both confident a deal to bring Nahitan Nandez to the Premier League will be completed soon although concerns remain over the structure of a £31m deal, Corriere dello Sport states.

Now, you should never believe everything you read, especially in an era of never-ending gossip and spurious sources.

And while Corriere dello Sport believes a deal that would see the impressive Nandez become Leeds’ record signing is “done” – their words, not ours – there are still compromises to be reached and hoops to be jumped through.

Another boost on the Junior Firpo narrative

Leeds United expect to wrap up the permanent transfer of Barcelona defender Junior Firpo imminently, according to many Spanish outlets, plus The Athletic now.

Adam Crafton made the claim on his personal Twitter profile on Wednesday night, after previously reporting Leeds were pushing to seal the deal this week.

He wrote last night: “Believe this Leeds United deal for left-back Junior Firpo is now very close. It should be wrapped up with ribbons soon.”

LeedsLive understands the Whites remain quietly confident of securing a left-back highly sought after by a number of Champions League clubs.

Supposed Jacob Murphy frustration

Newcastle United are close to agreeing a new contract with wide man Jacob Murphy, Football Insider reported yesterday, with a mention of Leeds.

The northeast giants are keen to agree an extended contract with the 26-year-old to fend off his army of suitors.

A source told Football Insider Murphy is in advanced talks with Newcastle over a long-term contract after a breakthrough, and all parties expect a deal to now be done.

That would be a blow to his admirers at home and abroad, they say, who include German, Turkish and Portuguese big hitters Bayer Leverkusen, Galatasaray and Porto.

He has also been on the radar in recent months of Leeds, Burnley, Southampton, Watford and Scottish giants Rangers, the report claims.
