Leeds United transfer rumours: Midfielder stance offers boost, Mujica twist, Ambrosius hint

Leeds United are back in action at the weekend, as they travel to League Two side Crawley Town in the third round of the FA Cup.

This gives Marcelo Bielsa the chance to hand some of his more senior first-team stars a much-needed rest, with the festive schedule now coming to an end.

With the aforementioned busy fixture list ending, the January transfer window is now open and Bielsa will be looking to add to the Whites' squad at some point over the month.

In light of this, we bring you the very latest round-up of Leeds-related transfer rumours and stories from today.

Bielsa draws on many positives his side displayed today

Pulgar 'winding down' time at Fiorentina

Leeds reportedly hold an interest in Fiorentina midfielder Erick Pulgar, and the latest news is that the 26-year-old is 'winding down his time' at the Serie A outfit.

That's according to La Nazione, who are reporting that the Whites' interest in Pulgar's team-mate Christian Kouame has cooled in recent days.

However, there is still talk about the Chile international and Bielsa's admiration of him, and there have been suggestions that the player "seems to be winding down" his time in Italy.

Also, Leeds' supposed contact with Pulgar's representatives is proving to be an "interesting" dilemma with the January window now open.

Mujica set for Leeds return

Leeds loanee Rafa Mujica is set to have his deal at Real Oviedo cancelled and return to Elland Road this month, according to a report from El Desmarque.

The article states that Oviedo are currently on the lookout for other targets and they need to let one of their current loanees leave the club, with Mujica looking like the most likely option.

The 22-year-old has played just five times for the Spanish side in all competitions and has scored two goals in the process.

The Spanish striker joined Bielsa's side back in 2019 from Barcelona's B team, but has spent most of his time out on loan so far.

Ambrosius transfer hint

Reported Leeds target Stephan Ambrosius has insisted he is happy with Hamburg and sees his future with the German club.

Ambrosius was linked with a move to Elland Road in November, with his contract at the German second-tier side due to expire in the summer.

However, the 22-year-old central defender has now dropped a big hint over his future.

“My adviser is in close contact with the association. As a native of Hamburg, it’s best to play for HSV,” Ambrosius told BILD .

“My dream is to get promoted with HSV. Everyone in the club knows that we should remain humble and always give 100 percent. If we can do that, we will be so strong that nothing should be able to stop it.”
