Leeds United were always set to focus on summer recruitment, rather than what could be done in January.
They said as much prior to the winter window opening, and so it proved, with no new players added to the squad.
Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa have repeatedly shown patience in their transfer dealings, pursuing very specific players that fit into his system and solve a particular problem.
Plans have already been made for the summer and beyond, and we have an update on three potential targets who have been linked with moves to Elland Road.
Here is a round-up of the latest Leeds transfer rumours.
Lundstram tipped to join Leeds
Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram has been tipped to join Leeds in the summer when his contract at Bramall Lane expires.
Chris Wilder revealed earlier this season that Lundstram rejected the Blades' offer of a new deal and will leave at the end of the season. And now former Premier League defender Alan Hutton believes that Lundstram could suit Leeds' high-energy system.
"Is he going to go to a top-ten team? I’m not sure, it’s a difficult one," he told Football Insider. "Sitting here, I don’t really think there’s any team that I could go: ‘He’s definitely going to go there.’
"Leeds United, somewhere like that, where he can get up pitch and attack, they like to flood forward, would he suit someone like that? I’m pretty positive that there’ll be a few teams keeping a close eye on his situation anyway, that’s for sure."
Leeds interested in Prague midfielder
Leeds are reportedly interested in Slavia Prague midfielder Oscar Dorley and could be prepared to pay £7million to secure his services.
EFotbal via HITC reports that Leeds are considering a move for the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window.
Dorley is a versatile central midfielder who can also fill in at full-back, especially on the left side. Bielsa is a known admirer of versatile players who can be used in a number of positions, and Dorley could feature in a similar role to Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling.
Former Slavia Prague teammates Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek have impressed with West Ham United in the Premier League.
Udinese open door to sell De Paul
Sporting director Pasquale Marino admits that, should De Paul leave, he would raise the level of any team to a 'different level'.
"He has characteristics that many top clubs in Europe are missing," Marino told Italian broadcaster Radio 24 via the Daily Mail.
"I hope it doesn't happen, but whoever signs him next summer will raise their team to a different level.".
De Paul has reportedly been the subject of interest from Leeds in the previous window with a bid rejected last summer. The midfielder has five goals in 20 Serie A games. Bielsa is said to be an admirer of his abilities.
