Leeds United transfer rumours: Michael Olise boost, Victor Orta's influence, Riqui Puig blow

Marcelo Bielsa could be targeting the January transfer window as a chance to improve his Leeds United squad.

It's been a mixed start to their first season back in the Premier League for the Whites, but the mid-season window - which is now weeks away - is a great opportunity for some reinforcements.

Bielsa could be looking at new players to improve his squad, as well as offloading anyone he doesn't need in order to raise the funds In light of this, here are the latest Leeds transfer stories and rumours.

Olise transfer boost

Leeds are one of the many clubs interested in signing Reading starlet Michael Olise in January, according to reports.

Now, one of the other supposedly interested parties, Leicester City, have ruled themselves out of signing Olise. The Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers said: “I don’t believe so (any January signings). It’s something that we’ve looked at."

This could prove to be a positive sign for the Whites if they are indeed keen on bringing the 19-year-old talent to Elland Road, with Olise rumoured to have an £8milion release clause in his contract at the Championship side.

Bogusz reveals Orta advice

Leeds loanee Mateusz Bogusz has revealed how the club's sporting director Victor Orta helped him make his mind up over a transfer in the summer.

Bogusz signed for the Spanish side UD Logrones on the summer deadline day and he has now revealed the role Orta played in his decision.

Speaking to Spanish outlet AS, via Sport Witness, the 19-year-old said: "I chose Logroño because I considered it a good place to grow. Also, the sporting director of Leeds, Victor Orta, told me that it seemed like a good way to show my potential."

The Polish teenager has played 11 times for Logrones in the Spanish second tier this season, scoring one goal and providing the same amount of assists.

Milan chase Puig deal

AC Milan have joined Leeds in the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig, according to a report from Calciomercato.

Milan are set to make contact with Barca in January over a potential loan move to the San Siro.

The Whites have also been linked with a loan move for Puig, who is seemingly out-of-favour under Ronald Koeman this season. The 21-year-old's contract at the Camp Nou runs out in 2021, and the Spanish giants could be looking to offload him now.
