Leeds United transfer rumours: Liverpool game impressed Rodrigo De Paul, Dimitri Payet linked

Leeds United fans were sent into excitement on Monday evening when Rodrigo De Paul appeared to confirm his desire to join the Whites before deleting his Twitter account.

Yet, with under three weeks of the transfer window remaining, how close are the Whites to making any more signings?

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours.

De Paul impressed by Liverpool game

After Rodrigo De Paul appeared to confirm his desire to join Leeds United, Argentine outlet TNT Sports claim the attacking midfielder was impressed with what he saw in the Whites' opening game of the season.

Leeds went down to a 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday but gave as good as they got in an engrossing encounter that won praise from plenty.

De Paul is said to be keen to work with Marcelo Bielsa and was impressed by the Whites' display at Anfield.

Whites not rushing

The Athletic report that Leeds are set to assess their options before pursuing any transfer targets in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Whilst the Whites are keen on De Paul, among others, they are also keen not to overpay and want good value for money.

It is why Leeds have not offered the €40m that Udinese want in order to sell the attacking midfielder.

Payet linked

If the Whites do not land De Paul, one player who has been floated as an alternative is Dimitri Payet.

That is according to Le10 Sport, who claim Leeds have made contact with the attacker over a potential return to the Premier League.

The former West Ham star signed a new contract at Marseille recently but Marcelo Bielsa is said to have called him personally over a potential move to Elland Road.
