Leeds United transfer rumours: Left-back pursuit boosted after Romain Perraud update

Leeds United's transfer window is expected to ramp up in the next two weeks ahead of the first batch of players returning to pre-season training at the beginning of July.

Leeds have had a quiet start to the transfer window other than announcing their retained list but that is expected to change imminently as they look to build on an encouraging first season back in the Premier League.

Here are all the latest Leeds United rumours.

Romain Perraud boost

He may not be the only left-back linked with Leeds given the recent speculation around Javi Galan and Maxwel Cornet but Stade Brest left-back Romain Perraud has been a perennial target for Leeds.

It had looked as if he would end up at Southampton but A Bola, in a report carried by Sport Witness, have claimed Benfica's Nuno Tavares is now under consideration at St Mary's.

If Tavares were to complete a move to the Saints, it would raise question marks over Perraud's future once more as Leeds continue their search for a new left-back in the wake of a possible Ezgjan Alioski departure.

New Van Dijk linked with Leeds

Leeds are being linked with the 'new Van Dijk' in Leo Hjelde at Celtic as the club look to bolster their U23s ranks this summer.

The Whites embarked on a recruitment drive for their second-string outfit last summer and look set to follow up with more investment following their Premier League 2 Division Two title win, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Hjelde is one of the names to be linked with a move, with the 17-year-old left-sided player expected to fill the likely void left by Oliver Casey who is being eyed up for a permanent switch to Blackpool.

Former target heads for Fiorentina despite Premier League interest

Nicolas Gonzalez, remember him? The Argentinian was linked with a move to Leeds United last summer from Stuttgart but stayed put with the Bundesliga outfit.

Having netted six goals in 17 appearances across all competitions, Brighton were being widely tipped to seal a £25m deal for the striker only for Fiorentina to scupper their chances.

A deal for Gonzalez to head to La Viola had looked dead in the water given the Seagulls had stolen a march and Spurs too were interested in the 23-year-old.

But Sky Sport Germany reporter Max Bielefeld is reporting that he is now bound for a move to Florence despite Gennaro Gattuso's exit from the club after just 22 days in charge as manager.
