Leeds United transfer rumours: Julian Draxler interest reignited, three-way Sam Johnstone battle

With the January transfer window a chance to do some mid-season business, Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa could look to add to the squad to improve their chances for the remainder of the season.

It's been a really strong start for the Whites, but they couldn't bring their recent form to north London.

However, now the window is upon us, Bielsa may be looking at players he can sign for the remainder of the campaign.

With that said, here is a round-up of the latest Leeds-related transfer rumours and stories.

Jack Harrison continues to prove people wrong

Leeds chase Draxler

Leeds are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain's Julian Draxler, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Team Talk ).

Draxler was reportedly a target for the Whites last summer, but a deal never materialised for the German attacker.

However, it is now being claimed that Leeds are once again keen on bringing the talented playmaker to Elland Road.

The 27-year-old is set to be a free agent in the summer, with his contract in Paris due to expire at the end of the season, meaning he could speak to Leeds this month.

Whites in Johnstone battle

According to The Sun, Tottenham are now interested in signing West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper and reported Leeds target Sam Johnstone.

The same outlet reported recently that Johnstone is being watched by the Whites, as well as Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.

Now, it appears to be a three-way battle for the Baggies goalkeeper - who has been in fine form at the Hawthorns this season.

As things stand, Bielsa has Illan Meslier, who has been impressive in between the posts in the early stages of the campaign.

West Brom out of James race

West Brom have pulled out of the race to sign reported Leeds target Daniel James in January, according to the Daily Mail (via Birmingham Live ).

The Baggies are no longer pursuing a move for James following Sam Allardyce's appointment as manager.

The Whites have been heavily linked with a swoop for the out-of-favour Manchester United winger since the summer transfer window.

Reports recently have suggested that the Wales international is keen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his place, despite the form of the United attackers.
