It’s set to be a massive transfer window for Leeds United as they prepare for life back in the Premier League following their historic season.
The Whites dominated the Championship and were crowned champions as a result after a memorable campaign.
Marcelo Bielsa and the Leeds hierarchy now have a big summer ahead of them as they look to consolidate the club’s place in the Premier League.
With that being said, here are the best Leeds-related transfer rumours from around Europe.
Jonathan David offer submitted
Leeds have submitted a “much better” offer for Gent striker Jonathan David, according to the Belgian club’s director Ivan De Witte.
Lille looked set to sign the Canadian forward, but after failing to agree a fee with Gent, it looks like Leeds are in a strong position for his signature.
De Witte said to Voetbalkrant: “The contacts came to a halt (with Lille) this week, but other clubs are interested. They have made a much better offer, including Leeds.
“I explained again to Jonathan that we want him to play for us this season, although there are still hurdles.”
Thiago Almada keen on move
Reported Manchester United transfer target Thiago Almada has revealed he is keen on a move to Leeds instead, when speaking to TyC Sports.
The Velez Sarsfield star has scored four times in Argentina’s top-flight this season and has spoken about his admiration for Leeds boss Bielsa.
Almada said: “I would like Bielsa to coach me. My friends sent me something about Bielsa, but I am calm. Whether it happens or not, we have to see.
“I don’t watch much soccer, but I saw some Leeds highlights and I saw something similar to what we did in Velez with (Gabriel) Heinze.”
Leeds in contact with River Plate star
Leeds have been in contact with River Plate defender Lucas Martinez Quarta, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.
The report says that the Whites have been in “in-depth contact” with the Argentine side over a move for the defender.
However, Italian giants Inter Milan are also interested in a move for Martinez Quarta and could provide stern competition for Leeds.
River Plate value the 24-year-old at €12-15m, with his contract with the side expiring at the end of next season.
