Leeds United transfer rumours: Interest in Chelsea ace, Tyler Roberts claim, Victor Orta comment

Leeds United are consistently being linked with a host of new players as the January transfer window edges closer.

Marcelo Bielsa will have the chance to add to his squad, or offload any unneeded players in less than a month-and-a-half, with the mid-season window the last chance to change the team before the campaign ends.

It may be a case of a few in and a few out for the Whites in January, with the rumour mill starting to fill up as each day passes.

With that said, here are the latest Leeds-related transfer stories.

Enquiry for Chelsea youngster

Leeds are one of three Premier League clubs to make an enquiry for Chelsea's on-loan midfielder Conor Gallagher.

That's according to The Sun (via HITC ), who are reporting that the 20-year-old - who is currently on loan at West Bromwich Albion - is the subject of a number of enquiries.

As well as the Whites, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United are also interested in Gallagher - who has played four games this season for the Baggies in the Premier League.

Gallagher has established himself as a fine young talent after coming through the Blues' academy system.

Whelan urges Whites to sign Roberts replacement

Noel Whelan believes Leeds need to sign a replacement for the "struggling" Tyler Roberts.

Roberts has played six times in the Premier League for the Whites so far this season, but is yet to be directly involved in a goal.

Whelan, speaking to Football Insider, said: "He has had opportunities this season. He does not seem to do what is required when he comes on which is change the game, change the momentum of the game and start dictating.

"We are not getting the effect desired by a substitute who is playing in that number 10 position.

"That is something that we need to look at again in the summer. “Our bench is not of the same quality as other sides. We need people who can come on and really make a difference."

Orta's transfer revelation

Leeds' Director of Football Victor Orta has opened up on the club's transfer process, when speaking to Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness ).

Orta has explained some of the more tricky situations the club can find themselves in when trying to add players to the squad.

"Those who say that signing with money is easy are mistaken; those who say it’s easy to sign without money are also mistaken," the Whites DoF said.

“All signings, with or without money, must be taken as a process. The player who yields isn’t the best, who didn’t yield isn’t the worst. Talent exists, but there are many ways to develop it, because it depends on many factors that are difficult to control. Therefore, medals shouldn’t be given for success or punishment for failure.”
