Leeds United transfer rumours: Gjanni Alioski latest, Erick Pulgar update, defender competition

For Leeds United, it's largely expected to be a quiet final few days of the January transfer window, as it has been all month.

The Whites spent close to £100m in the summer window, meaning this month was always going to be fairly quiet in terms of additions at Elland Road.

However, the transfer rumours keep on being released and if they are to be believed, then there could be some business in the remaining days.

With this being said, here is the latest round-up of Leeds-related transfer rumours and stories from around Europe.

Alioski update

Reports emerged on Wednesday that Galatasaray were looking to agree a deal to sign Leeds man Gjanni Alioski this month.

Turkish outlet Fotospor were claiming that Alioski was on his way to the Turkish side, with his contract at Elland Road due to expire at the end of the season.

However, according to The Athletic's Phil Hay, the Whites are still locked in talks with the North Macedonia international over a new deal to stay in Yorkshire.

The versatile star has played a key role in Marcelo Bielsa 's side's strong start to the Premier League season.

When Whites could swoop for Pulgar

According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Leeds will not be making a move for Erick Pulgar before the January transfer window closes at the start of next week.

The Whites have been heavily linked with a move for the Chile and Fiorentina midfielder, but the Serie A club's €10m valuation of their player has made the Premier League side reluctant to make a move this month.

It has now been suggested that Leeds could renew their interest at the end of the season where they should have more money available to them.

However, the Whites won't be the only ones looking at Pulgar - with Sassuolo and Cagliari also reportedly keen.

Sorinola competition

According to Football League World, Brighton and Swansea City have joined Leeds in the race to sign highly-rated MK Dons defender Matthew Sorinola.

Back in December, the same outlet reported that the Whites were interested in signing the 19-year-old.

Sorinola has played as both a left-back and. a right-back so far this season for the Dons and has caught the eye of several Premier League clubs.

Crystal Palace, West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion have also been named as clubs interested in signing the full-back.
