Leeds United transfer rumours: Ezgjan Alioski contract latest, Barry Douglas was asked to stay

Leeds United are in Premier League action this evening, as they entertain Leicester City at Elland Road.

The match, which kicks off at 8pm tonight, is a chance for the Whites to continue their fantastic start to life back in the English top-flight.

Marcelo Bielsa's men had a very busy summer transfer window, and with January now just under two months away, there will be further opportunities for new faces coming in at Elland Road.

Here are the latest Leeds-related transfer rumours.

Leeds have to secure Alioski future, says pundit

Kevin Phillips has urged Leeds to agree a new deal with Ezgjan Alioski, when talking to Football Insider.

The same outlet are reporting that the Whites are determined to keep hold of Alioski, whose current contract expires at the end of this season.

Phillips said: "From what I gather, his attitude is good and every club needs a player like that. He is a player who can unlock the door and he has a brilliant work-rate.

"When he comes off the bench, he can change the game and if you start with him, he might be able to produce a bit of magic. Either way, he does not moan and every squad needs a player like that. He is a player that they would like to keep. Leeds will want to get him on a new contract."

Leeds rate Edmondson highly

Gary Mills - Ryan Edmondson's former manager - believes Leeds must rate the teenage striker very high after loaning him out to Scottish side Aberdeen.

Edmondson is currently on a six-month loan spell at the Scottish Premiership club and has already made eight appearances for his temporary side.

Speaking to the Press and Journal, Mills - who managed the 19-year-old at York City, said: "I think that will be his ambition (to play in the Premier League) and Leeds will be thinking the same I think.

"For them allowing him to go to Aberdeen says a lot about how they view him, he's not been sent out to play non-league."

Douglas opens up on move

Barry Douglas has revealed that Leeds wanted to keep him at the club this summer after his loan move to Blackburn Rovers.

Douglas moved to the Ewood Park-based side on a season-long loan deal from the Whites and he has now revealed Bielsa's side's stance on his transfer away.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, the Scot said: "Football is a short career, I'd never rest on my laurels. I could have stayed at Leeds, I was wanted to stay and compete for a place, but I wasn't guaranteed football.

"I felt the onus was on me to make that decision and that's the way that I approach things. I don't want to be comfortable, I want to go and challenge myself and that's how I address things."
