Leeds United transfer rumours: Departure expected, Whites predicted to chase former target

The latest Leeds United transfer rumours.

Casilla 'not expected' to return

According to sources of Football Insider, Kiko Casilla is not expected to return to Leeds after his loan at Elche, despite his contract running beyond the end of the season.

The Spaniard's £40,000 per week wages are much too high for a club such as Leeds to carry for a back-up goalkeeper, with Illan Meslier firmly established as the number one at Elland Road.

Casilla has started every game for Elche since his return to La Liga.

Pundit's Phillips prediction

Kalvin Phillips 'knows he's going to leave Leeds' and any new contract merely 'protects' the club, rather than ties the England midfielder to the club for the long-term. That's according to pundit Frank McAvennie.

Rumours have linked Phillips to Manchester City and McAvennie said that the Leeds academy prospect signing a new contract would be the best thing for him and the club.

He said: "He could always run his contract down and no one wants that. He’s a Leeds boy and he knows he’s going to move. It’s a great idea. He had a cracking Euros and we all know how good he is. We know there is interest and when the time comes Leeds are protected a bit more now.”

Whites could go back for Derby star

Leeds have previously been linked with Derby youth product Louie Sibley and Kevin Phillips believes that the club should take the opportunity to go back for him, now that Derby find themselves in administration.

Phillips said that the attacking midfielder would be a 'brilliant signing' for the Whites.
