Leeds United transfer rumours: Boubakary Soumare linked, Liverpool eye Ben White move

Leeds United may have lost their last two Premier League fixtures, but their first season in the English top-flight has been an unmitigated success.

They still have the chance to move into the top half of the table with a win over Southampton on Tuesday night and have impressed the Premier League with their bright, attacking, vivacious style of play.

And now, with the summer transfer window in the distance, Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta must continue building the squad and establishing themselves as a Premier League team.

With that in mind, we have an update on two potential battles that Leeds could face this summer.

Here is a round-up of the latest Leeds transfer rumours.

Bielsa reflects on Leeds United's loss to Wolves

Leeds 'to battle' for Soumare

Leeds are reportedly set to face a battle with Newcastle United for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

A recruitment source told Football Insider that Leeds have set their sights on the midfielder as a potential target this summer as they look to further bolster their midfield options, an issue that has been made clear in Kalvin Phillips' absence in recent matches.

Soumare is in the final 18 months of his contract. He reportedly rejected a £35million transfer to Newcastle last summer.

The report adds that the financial troubles of French football have impacted Lille and could force the Ligue 1 side to offload the midfielder.

Liverpool eye Ben White move

Liverpool reportedly eye a summer move for Ben White after the Brighton defender shone in his team's 1-0 win over the Reds at Anfield.

White spent last season on loan at Leeds. He impressed greatly in the Championship and has since emerged as one of the brightest young defensive prospects in the Premier League.

And per Football Insider, Liverpool have watched him closely and are keen to sign a centre-back after their defensive difficulties this season.

Last week, Bielsa admitted that Leeds had a £30m bid rejected for White. They instead signed Robin Koch and Diego Llorente at centre-back, both of whom have suffered from injury-riddled first seasons at Elland Rd.

Leeds-linked starlet set for new deal

Hibs defender Josh Doig is reportedly in line for a new deal at Easter Road following reports last month linking him with the likes of Leeds United, Arsenal Manchester City and Celtic.

The 18-year-old wing-back's current contract expires in May 2023, but the Edinburgh Evening News claim that Hibs are ready to hand him new terms following an impressive debut season.

The former Hearts youngster has turned out 23 times this term, scoring once and doling out three assists.
