Leeds United transfer rumours: Ben White alternative identified, Whites enter Midfielder battle

Preparations for Leeds United’s return to the Premier League are well underway, with the Whites keeping themselves busy in the transfer market.

Six signings have so far made their way to Elland Road this summer, with more expected to join them before the new campaign begins on August 12.

And there has been no shortage of speculation as to who might be making the move to Leeds.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming from Elland Road.

Whites in battle with Hammers for midfielder

The Whites have reportedly joined the race for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez this summer.

The Uruguay international reportedly has a €36m release clause in his contract, with West Ham also looking interested.

Gazetta dello Sport report that Nandez could be set to leave Cagliari this summer, having attracted attention from a number of European clubs.

Leeds have been linked with the midfielder previously, and their promotion to the Premier League could provide the platform for them to pursue a deal this time.

Ben White alternative identified

Leeds are eyeing up Torino centre-back Lyanco as a possible alternative to Ben White this summer, according to reports in Portugal.

The Whites may have to look elsewhere for a new defender, with Brighton not budging on their view of White.

One option could be Lyanco, with O Jogo reporting that Leeds are one of a number of clubs interested, along with Bologna, Lille and Sporting, with Sporting having failed to meet Torino's £9m valuation so far.

The Whites’ hopes could be hindered though by the news that the player favours a move to Portugal, and the European football Sporting would be able to offer him.

EFL trio lining up for Gotts

Robbie Gotts could be set to head out on loan next season, with a number of EFL clubs lining up for his services.

The defender made his first team debut for the Whites back in January in the FA Cup at Arsenal, before making his league debut against Cardiff in June.

The 20-year-old looks set to sign a new deal at Elland Road, but could be sent out to get more experience ahead of the first season back in the Premier League.

According to The Athletic, Huddersfield, Hull and Blackpool are all interested in signing Gotts on loan for next season.
