Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites told Mikkel Damsgaard price, Dan James back on radar

Leeds United have had a good summer of recruitment so far but are still on the lookout for potential reinforcements ahead of the start of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Following the addition of Junior Firpo at left-back from Barcelona last week, Leeds are believed to be on the hunt for a young midfielder and another winger.

The rumour mill continues to keep turning with the Whites linked with a host of players.

Here are this morning's latest rumours.

Damsgaard on the radar

Mikkel Damsgaard's performances at the European Championships will have made a number of clubs sit up and take notice.

The Sampdoria star has become a target after his performances for Denmark, with Tuttosport reporting Leeds United are keen to sign the 21-year-old this summer.

Sampdoria are said to want at least £25m for Damsgaard, who will be attracting interest from a number of clubs in the next few weeks.

Dan James linked, again

Now we know we have been here before with Dan James, several times in fact.

But a fresh report in the Scottish Mail on Sunday claims Leeds United are once again showing interest in the Manchester United player.

James' history with Leeds and his failed move is well documented, but Leeds are now said to be closely monitoring developments with talk James could be allowed to depart Old Trafford this summer.

Firpo a bargain buy

Football finance expert Kieran Maguire believes Leeds United have made a shrewd financial move with the deal to sign Junior Firpo from Barcelona.

Leeds completed the transfer of the left-back last week in a deal worth £12.8m, with the 24-year-old signing a four-year contract at the Whites.

"Where there’s a fire, there’s a fire sale," Maguire told Football Insider.

"That’s the situation at Barcelona at the moment. The fact they can’t register these players they’ve signed is pretty humiliating for them.

"They are desperate to free up space on the wage bill. The benefit for Leeds is they are getting a player at a discount on his market value."
