Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites target urged to join Borussia Dortmund

Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours for Saturday, September 24.

Okafor urged to join Dortmund amid Leeds interest

Ex-Borussia Dortmund forward Alexander Frei has urged Red Bull Salzburg striker Noah Okafor to join his former club. Frei, who scored 34 Bundesliga goals for the Black and Yellows, coached Okafor during his stint as manager of FC Basel U18s.

It was reported last week that Leeds had intensified their interest in Okafor and were exploring a January move for the Switzerland international. The 22-year-old has posted 31 goals and 20 assists in 90 outings for the Red Bulls and has scored in four successive matches in the Austrian Bundesliga.

But his former youth coach believes a move to Germany would be the best choice for his career.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Frei revealed: "The next step is extremely important for his career progression. Noah needs to choose a club that suits his style of play. That could well be the case at BVB [Borussia Dortmund]."

Leeds target scores in victory over United States

Daichi Kamada scored the opening goal as Japan won 2-0 against Leeds duo Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson's United States in Dusseldorf on Friday.

The Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder has stalled over a new deal and could be available on a free transfer next summer.

Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Kamada in the summer and the Express claimed on Thursday that both clubs could be 'tempted' to revive their interest in the Japanese international in January.

Kamada has registered 30 goals and 30 assists in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt after arriving in Europe from Sagan Tosu in 2017. The 26-year-old has also extended his international tally to six goals in 20 caps.
