Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites linked with in-demand Brazilian wonderkid

Here are this morning's latest Leeds United transfer rumours and gossip.

Whites register interest in Brazilian wonderkid

Plenty has been written about the effect that Brexit has had on English clubs being able to recruit top young talents from Europe. Under new work permit rules, it is no longer so easy for EU passport-holding teenagers to move to England before breaking through to their first-teams.

However, the tweaked work permit rules have now levelled the playing field when it comes to signing players from outside the EU, including South America. Top young talents just making the breakthrough into their first teams will now be easier for English clubs to sign than they were previously. According to reports in Brazil, Leeds United are looking to exploit this change in the summer.

The Whites are said to be interested in bringing Fluminese's 18-year-old winger Matheus Martins to Elland Road. The teenager has already featured 14 times for the first-team and is highly rated in his country, being dubbed a 'wonderkid'.

Leeds have recruited aggressively when it comes to the players around the age of Martins. Victor Orta has been clear in his strategy that the Whites will buy players with big potential that can 'build a career' in Yorkshire.

Leeds will 'definitely' sign a player in key area

The loss of Patrick Bamford for the majority of the season has been one of the key factors in Leeds have a troublesome second season in the Premier League. One of the main issues has been Leeds' lack of a natural player to cover for the loss of their number nine.

However, according to journalist, Dean Jones, Leeds will rectify this in the summer as they will 'definitely' sign a striker. Jones said:

"Leeds are definitely going to sign a striker. I think it's irrelevant of whether Bamford is fit or not. We've seen that you have to have a backup for him."
