Leeds United transfer rumours as Raphinha contract 'won't make a difference' to winger's future

Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours for Monday, February 7.

Liverpool trying to lock in Carvalho deal

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have near enough wrapped up a deal with Fulham sensation Fabio Carvalho in a bid to fend off attention from other suitors, including possibly Leeds United.

The website reported that Liverpool will restart negotiations with Fulham this month to get a deal agreed in time for summer, having missed out on the 19-year-old in January.

The website also said: "Liverpool want an early deal in place as they are aware of strong interest from the likes of Leeds United, Southampton and West Ham."

Apparently the attacking midfielder has already had his medical and agreed personal terms.

Kevin Phillips says contract won't stop Raphinha leaving

Former England and Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips says a new contract will not stop Raphinha from leaving Leeds United this summer.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said: "I think it makes no difference. Whether you put a player on a new contract or not, if a big club comes in they generally get the player.

“It’s a great gesture. It’s all they can do really, show the ambition to say, ‘We’re offering a good deal to these players. We want them to stay.’

“Ultimately it’s the player’s decision and I think new deals, nowadays, don’t really make a big deal of difference.”
