Leeds United transfer rumours as pundit tips 'immense' Kalvin Phillips to make Aston Villa move

Here are your Leeds United transfer rumours on Sunday, March 27.

Agbonlahor backs Phillips deal

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped former club Aston Villa to make 'immense' Kalvin Phillips signing as he backs Steven Gerrard to sign the Leeds United midfielder in the summer. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Villa Park, while Manchester United have also reportedly expressed an interest in Phillips.

The Times reported that Villa are the frontrunners to sign Phillips at the end of the season. And this is a deal that Agbonlahor wants them to complete.

"Gerrard will know when the transfer window opens, there are players he has to get rid of,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider. He will look at Douglas Luiz who can do a job as a squad player but will not be the one starting in that position when everyone’s fit. Nakamba would be a better option.

"If Villa can get Bissouma in that midfield, that’s what Villa are missing, someone who can get the ball back and someone who can dictate play as well. He would be lovely in there with McGinn and Ramsey.

"But if Kalvin Phillips is available you hold out for him rather than Bissouma. I like Bissouma but Phillips has been outstanding for Leeds since he broke into the side, outstanding for England, especially at the Euros.

"I think he would be an immense signing and I’m sure Steven Gerrard would love to get that over the line. He will look at the project of Aston Villa and see it as more exciting than the Leeds project at the moment."

Leeds 'interested' in Wilson

Newcastle United have joined Leeds United in the race to sign Rangers youngster Rory Wilson, according to Daily Star. At just 16 years of age, Wilson is regarded as one of Scotland’s hottest prospects and has been offered a professional contract by the Glaswegian club.

However, it is understood that he is set to reject that offer in favour of a move to the Premier League. Leeds are just one of a host of English sides to reportedly show interest in the striker, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City all also interested in his services.

Wilson featured for Scotland Under 17s against Czech Republic this week and was supposedy being 'scouted' by a number of clubs. It has been claimed that any team who signs Wilson will have to pay a compensation fee, believed to be around £300,000.

Leeds 'turn down' Raphinha bid down

Leeds United have reportedly turned down a fresh bid from Barcelona for Raphinha, according to Sport, via Daily Mail. The 25-year-old is a target for the Spanish giants if Ousmane Dembele leaves this summer.

He is under contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2024, with a whole host of European clubs also said to be interested in the Brazilian international. Raphinha has been a key player for Leeds this season, with his importance underlined by the long-term absences of the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford.

Leeds have reportedly been in contract talks with the Brazilian, but his form over the past two seasons meaning it is little surprise that he is attracting interest from some of Europe's brightest and best. Jesse Marsch's side have told Barcelona chiefs they must pay the £62.5million release clause in Raphinha's contract if they are to prize him away from Elland Road.

And it is now understood that the Whites have rejected an initial £35million move. This is way short of their initial valuation.
