Leeds United transfer rumours as Marcelo likely destination revealed and Whites on Swift alert

Here is a round-up of the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Wednesday, 27 October 2021.

Marcelo’s likely destination revealed

Leeds United’s reported summer transfer target Marcelo has told Real Madrid that he will be leaving the club on a free transfer next year.

The Brazilian is set to end his 15-year stay with the club at the end of this season, with Premier League sides Everton and Leeds thought to be keen.

That is according to El Nacional, who, despite interest from England, claim that his most likely destination will be Brazilian outfit Fluminense.

Marcelo began his career at Fluminense before his move to Madrid in 2007 and could be set to go full circle to return to the place where his illustrious career all began.

Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield United and Brentford on John Swift alert

The early season form of Reading midfielder John Swift has reportedly alerted several Premier League sides including Leeds United and Newcastle, according to the Sheffield Star.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals and provided six assists in just 14 appearances, in what has been an electric start to the new campaign by the former Chelsea man.

Swift is out of contract at the Madejski Stadium in the summer and could be available for a cut-price fee in January if talks on a new deal do not progress.

Leeds have been keen on recruiting a new midfielder for over 12 months but are yet to add to their ranks in the engine room since promotion last year.

Leeds target sets game time goal

Reported Leeds United target Haydon Roberts has set his sights on playing regularly at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Roberts has played just five times for the Seagulls’ first team after making his debut two years ago in a Carabao Cup tie at Aston Villa.

The 19-year-old was linked with a permanent move to Elland Road last summer but instead made a temporary switch to Rochdale in League One.

And with Roberts now back at his parent club, he has revealed his desire playing regularly at his hometown club.

Speaking to Sussex Live, he said: “I wouldn't say there's more pressure than what's on other players, but it means a bit more to play for the club because I come from the city and from a family of Brighton supporters.

"I also have a lot of friends who support the club. I grew up dreaming of playing for my local team when they were in League One and I used to go to Withdean and watch games with my dad.

"To see the transition of the club to the Amex and the Premier League is just amazing and it's an honour every time I put on the shirt.

"It would be a dream to go on and play regularly for my local team in the Premier League, just like Lewis Dunk has done."
