Leeds United transfer rumours as Leicester 'table £20m bid for Jack Harrison', Illan Meslier addresses Whites future

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Sunday, January 28.

Jack Harrison

Leicester City made a £20 million bid for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison last week, which is significantly lower than his reported £35 million valuation, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. Ornstein added that the Whites are deciding whether to sell or keep Harrison and hand him a new deal.

His current contract ends in the summer of 2024, although Jesse Marsch wants to keep the midfielder and does not believe he wants a move away from Elland Road. However, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that Harrison is 'not sold on the idea' of joining the Foxes.

Jones said: “In terms of Harrison and Leicester, the feeling that I’ve got on this at the moment is that he is not sold on the idea of joining Leicester. So it looks like they’re going to have to talk him into this transfer if it’s going to happen.”

Harrison has also been linked with Arsenal and Newcastle United, with the latter having bids turned down by Leeds back in the summer. The winger has scored two goals and provided seven assists in 20 appearances across all competitions for the Whites this season.

Illan Meslier

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier insists he is happy at Elland Road amid reports linking him with a transfer to Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea are believed to be searching for a new number one, with the Blues looking to replace Edouard Mendy in the summer. Spurs, meanwhile, are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Meslier has emerged as a potential option for both clubs but the Frenchman has revealed that his spell at Leeds has been beyond his expectations in an interview with L'Equipe

“At the time, no. But the fact of no longer being No 1 at Lorient, I was hurt deep inside. England, I always wanted to go there. Leeds is a club that is known around the world," Meslier told L'Equipe.

“Yes, it could have taken another turn, if there had not been this suspension of Kiko Casilla, maybe that I wouldn’t have made a match in the season, and then what do we do? I had favourable circumstances.

“It’s beyond my expectations. When you start at Lorient in Ligue 2, you never imagine yourself going up to the Premier League and continuing. I am proud to have broken these precocious records.”
