Leeds United transfer rumours as fresh Raphinha to Barcelona claim made

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Tuesday, May 17.

Brazilian media outlet claims Barcelona have pressed Raphinha accelerator

In the midst of the Whites’ battle against relegation, the Raphinha saga continues to rumble on in the background. He looks destined to leave the club this summer, regardless of whether they are playing in the top flight or the Championship next term.

Barcelona have been heavily linked with the Leeds star but, until now, the only reported discussions regarding a move have been between the Spanish giants and Raphinha’s agent, Deco. However, according to Inside Futbol, Brazilian outlet UOL have claimed that a deal worth up to €65m has been tabled by Barca.

The initial offer totals €55m with the extra €10m said to be coming in the form of add-ons, likely to be performance-based.

Fresh Adama Traore to Leeds claim made

There have been plenty of rumours linking Adama Traore with a move to Leeds in the last few transfer windows. Although, the signing of Dan James in the summer – and Traore’s subsequent loan move to Barcelona - seemed to put paid to any chance of that.

However, under the leadership of Jesse Marsch instead of Marcelo Bielsa, there is still reported interested in the lightning-fast winger at Elland Road. Transfer insider Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT : “He knows they want him. I think he’s been open to it in the past. If there’s no future for him at Wolves, or Barcelona, then he will have to consider it.”

Like many of Leeds’ summer targets, any pursuit of the Wolves winger would likely hinge on whether or not they are able to maintain their Premier League status on Sunday.

Newcastle would have to ‘break their wage structure’ to sign Phillips

Alongside Raphinha, there are real worries amongst the Leeds fanbase that Kalvin Phillips may also head through the exit door in the case of relegation. His departure would also demand a hefty transfer fee but, as an England regular, he certainly wouldn’t be short of suitors.

Newcastle continue to be linked with a summer move for him but his potential arrival on Tyneside would come at more than just a financial cost. According to Sky Sports’ reporter in the north east Keith Downie, Phillips would have to be the highest earner at the club, breaking the structure that remains important to the hierarchy at St James’ Park.

“They would probably have to break their wage structure or maybe go just above it to bring him in” he told GIVEMESPORT. “I think it would be a statement signing for Newcastle and that’s the sort of player that they should be looking for.”
