Leeds United transfer rumours as Arnaud Kalimuendo talks 'intensify' & fresh Jack Harrison claim

Your Leeds United transfer round-up for Friday, July 14.

Kalimuendo talks ‘intensify’

Leeds will ‘intensify’ their efforts to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to French outlet L’Equipe. The report adds that negotiations are ongoing for a deal in the region of £22million. The deal consists of an £18.5million up front fee with £2.5million in add-ons.

Yorkshire Live reported on Monday that Leeds were just £4million short of PSG’s asking price, after a £17million bid was reportedly made by the Whites back in June. Inter Milan will also monitor the situation, as PSG consider including Kalimuendo as part of an exchange deal for the Italian side’s defender Milan Skriniar.

Leeds are looking to bolster their attack after Patrick Bamford missed a large chunk of last season through injury. Kalimuendo scored 21 times in 65 outings across two loan spells for RC Lens, including 13 goals last term, which saw him finish as the club’s leading goal scorer.

He has only played four senior matches for PSG but was named their most promising academy player in 2020.

Leeds seek Raphinha replacement

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Leeds United are on the lookout to find a replacement for Raphinha this summer. It was announced this week that Leeds had agreed a deal for Raphinha to join Barcelona, putting an end to a transfer saga that has dragged on for weeks.

Summer signings Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra will help fill the void left by the Brazilian international but Jones insists Jesse Marsch is in the market for another attacker.

Jones told Give Me Sport : “They’ve made good additions, but the Raphinha replacement is still to come.

“And that’s because they want a forward that’s going to make people sit up and take notice of them and be a little bit more scared of them, I guess.”

Newcastle reconsider Harrison

Newcastle United could be set to rekindle their interest in Leeds United winger Jack Harrison after failing to agree deals for Alexander Isak and Moussa Diaby.

The Telegraph report of ‘disillusionment’ within St James’ Park at the fees being quoted, along with the size of the wage demands. This could encourage the Magpies to move for Harrison, although Leeds’ £30million valuation remains a stumbling block.

The Daily Mail’s North East football correspondent Craig Hope tweeted: ‘Alexander Isak message consistent throughout summer, a non-starter because of price. Moussa Diaby on hold for now (same reason). More likely is movement on Jack Harrison, although valuation with Leeds remains apart.’
