Leeds United transfer rumours: 49ers to help fund Adama Traore move, trio face uncertain future

Leeds United don't take centre stage in the Premier League until Monday night - but they continue to be linked with several 'ins' and 'outs' ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sitting well-placed in 11th before their trip to surprise package West Ham United, the Whites already have one eye firmly on recruitment for a second season back in the big time.

But who will be top of Marcelo Bielsa's shopping list come the summer?

Here is a round-up of the latest Leeds transfer rumours.

Leeds to use 49ers investment for Traore - report

Increased investment from the San Francisco 49ers will provide Leeds with the platform to step up their chase for Adama Traore.

That's according to transfer insider Dean Jones, with Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers slapping a £50million price tag on the Spain international amid suggestions the Whites could make a move for him this summer.

Having already held a 15% stake in the Elland Road club, the 49ers increased that to 37% last month as Leeds set their sights on the summer transfer window.

Traore, 25, has made 92 league appearances for Wolves since moving to Molineux in 2018.

Speaking to the Touchline Talk podcast, Jones said: "Adama is somebody they've had their eye on since the start of the season pretty much. Part of this new investment is definitely what they have in their mind, going towards a deal for him."

Why Leeds were after Sanson - Mills

Leeds were linked with a move for Morgan Sanson last summer - but the French midfielder who could have been 'a perfect stand-in for Kalvin Phillips' has yet to make his mark in the Premier League.

Sanson has totalled just 66 minutes for Villa since joining them for around £14m during the January transfer window.

But as he struggles to cement a regular place in the engine room at Villa Park, the 26-year-old has been picked out as one who got away amid Phillips being sidelined with a calf injury.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Leeds defender Danny Mills said: "He's a number eight and he's got a good range of passing so maybe he is that Kalvin Phillips-type player and that's why Leeds were after him. Time will tell.

"I mean, it's difficult to really talk about Sanson. I don't think we've seen him enough, in my opinion. You need that time to settle in, but he's not really had that run of games."

Three out amid Leeds' recruitment drive?

Bielsa's summer recruitment drive could, in turn, leave senior players 'vulnerable' at Elland Road towards the end of this season.

That's according to The Athletic, who report that the future of trio Gaetono Beradi, Helder Costa and striker Tyler Roberts could be in doubt.

Beradi is coming towards the end of his current contract at Leeds, while Costa has been made to play second fiddle to the likes of Brazilian winger Raphinha and Jack Harrison.

Roberts, meanwhile, has scored just seven league goals in close to three years with the Whites - and none at all in the top flight.
