Leeds United transfer news: Rodrigo open to Whites switch, Maxwel Cornet linked with transfer

Leeds United’s return to the Premier League is now just a matter of weeks away, with plenty of work being done this summer on Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The Whites are due to kick-off their long-awaited first season back against champions Liverpool on September 12.

Before that, they’ll be keeping themselves busy in the transfer market, with more new arrivals expected to join their six signings so far.

Here are the latest transfer rumours and gossip coming from Elland Road.

Rodrigo keen on move

Valencia striker Rodrigo is reportedly keen on a move to Elland Road amid rumours linking him with Leeds.

The Daily Mail report that his current club's financial problems could help get a deal over the line.

Rodrigo has a buy-out clause of £45million, and the player is said to be keen on a new challenge under Bielsa, with Valencia willing to entertain bids of around £30million.

Reports in Spain have also suggested Leeds are preparing their first offer, believed to be around €25million, for the striker.

Cornet linked with Whites move

Reports in France are linking Lyon star Maxwel Cornet with a move to Elland Road this summer.

The Ivorian forward played a big part in the French side's run to the Champions League semi-finals, scoring the opener against Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

His form in Europe has led to plenty of interest, with a number of clubs said to be keeping track of the 23-year-old.

And Le Foot Sur 7 are reporting that Leeds are considering a move for Cornet, with Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Watford, and Liverpool also keeping an eye on his progress.

Fulham bid for Luis rejected

According to reports in Italy, Fulham have seen a bid for Leeds target Florentino Luis knocked back by Benfica.

The 21-year-old has been linked with the Whites and AC Milan this summer, with Benfica said to be ready to cash in on him.

But it seems they aren't happy with Fulham's offer, with Calciomercato reporting the London club put in a loan offer worth €1.5million with an option to make the move permanent for a figure of €25million.

Benfica are said to only be willing to negotiate a deal at €40million, with their intention to be to make the player difficult to sign.
