Leeds United transfer news: Deadline Day stance, Jarrod Bowen and Dwight Gayle latest

Here is the Leeds United transfer news and rumours round-up as the Whites watch on whilst their rivals attempt to get business over the line.

Deadline Day stance

Leeds United are not expected to be busy on January transfer window deadline day after achieving what they wanted to this month.

The Whites set out their stall out this January to bring in a striker after losing Eddie Nketiah, who was recalled back by Arsenal early.

Nketiah's release had led to a mad scramble of sorts to find a replacement as Marcelo Bielsa's squad started to look thin.

But the loan signing of striker Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from RB Leipzig provided a boost for United as they solved their forward problem.

Augustin's arrival has added to the signings of young guns Elia Caprile and Ian Poveda as Leeds seem relaxed on deadline day ahead of their clash at home to Wigan Athletic tomorrow afternoon.

Any extra deals for United on deadline day are very unlikely at this stage as the Whites turn their attentions towards returning to Championship action.

Bowen to West Ham

But there will be a feeling of what could have been as well for Leeds, who have been linked heavily with Jarrod Bowen.

The 23-year-old attracted interest from the likes of Leeds, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, but the Hammers have swooped for his services.

Bowen is having a medical and the clubs have agreed on an initial fee of £14 million, rising to £22m with further add-ons.

The deal will increase his current £9K a week wages to more than £50K.

Gayle could make Forest switch

Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle could leave the Magpies for Nottingham Forest, according to reports.

MailOnline have stated that Forest have made a loan bid, with a £15m permanent transfer set to be finalised in the summer.

Leeds were linked with Gayle during their striker search but it appears that the 29-year-old will be joining the Whites' Championship rivals.
