Leeds target De Paul misses latest Udinese friendly
Rodrigo De Paul has further fuelled speculation linking him with a move to Leeds United after missing Udinese’s friendly against Vicenza on Sunday night.
The Argentine midfielder, who has been at the centre of reports of interest from the Whites, was absent as his side fell to a 1-0 loss.
And it could be that De Paul becomes the next Leeds signing this summer, following the arrivals of Robin Koch and Rodrigo Moreno.
The 26-year-old is also believed to be on Juventus’ radar.
Udinese get their Serie A season underway with a trip to Verona later this month, and it seems unlikely that De Paul will be involved.
Jackson takes over Under-23s after Corberan exit
Leeds have confirmed that Mark Jackson will become the club’s new Under-23s manager after Carlos Corberan left to take the Huddersfield job.
Jackson will make the step up from the Under-18s, having held that job since 2015.
The former defender played for the Whites from 1995 until 2000, later going on to feature for clubs such as Scunthorpe and Rochdale.
“I’m delighted to be thought of for the role and it is a very privileged position to be in at this football club,” Jackson told the club’s website.
“It is a chance for me to step up, it is a great opportunity and one I am looking forward to with excitement.”
Crouch makes Elland Road claim
Peter Crouch has claimed that the absence of fans at Elland Road this season could have an adverse effect on Leeds.
Supporters were set to return to stadiums in limited numbers next month but an increase in coronavirus cases means the situation will be reviewed again.
And former Liverpool and Tottenham striker Crouch has admitted that could damage Leeds in particular.
“I played at Elland Road a few times and, I mean this in the most respectful sense, it was horrible,” he told the Mail.
“The fans make it an ordeal for visiting supporters and I can remember the buzz there for Marcelo Bielsa's first match against Stoke two years ago.
“In the Premier League, the intensity would have been even greater and would have given them such a lift.
“It's hard to put a points tally on what their supporters would be worth but I can assure you a full Elland Road would make a positive difference.”
