Leeds United told Viktor Gyokeres 'better than' Premier League strikers amid transfer links

EFL pundit Sam Parkin has claimed Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres is better than a lot of Premier League forwards amid Leeds United's transfer links with the prolific forward.

Gyokeres has had a superb season for the Sky Blues in the Championship, scoring 17 goals and providing six assists in 35 league appearances so far this season. Only Middlesbrough star Chuba Akpom (21) has out-scored the Swede, who is reportedly on Leeds' radar for the summer transfer window.

And Gyokeres once again showcased his talent during Coventry's 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday with two goals either side of half-time.

Leeds, who are missing the impact of their injured top scorer Rodrigo, could do with a clinical forward in their fight against relegation. Even though Gyokeres will not be able to leave his side until the end of the season, he has already been backed to be good enough to play for the Whites.

"I could probably name about six teams in the Premier League where he would get in straight away now, this minute," Parkin told What the EFL? podcast when asked if Gyokeres was capable of playing in the English top-flight.

“He’s better than the strikers at a lot of clubs at the bottom of the table, in the middle of the table, so yes is my answer."
