Leeds United told to sign La Liga ace to ease burden on Patrick Bamford

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has told Leeds United to sign Lucas Ocampos to ease the goalscoring burden placed upon Patrick Bamford.

Bamford has hit 14 goals in the Premier League this season, helping Marcelo Bielsa's side to comfortably secure top-flight status for another season.

However, alternative sources for goals have been few and far between, with no other player hitting double figures as Jack Harrison and Raphinha, second in Leeds' scoring charts, have hit six each.

Club-record signing Rodrigo has not hit the heights the Whites would have hoped for, with the Spain international enduring a stop-start season amid injury issues and a positive coronavirus test.

That will likely put Leeds back in the hunt for attacking reinforcements ahead of next season and Sevilla's Ocampos has been touted as a potential target for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The forward hit 14 goals last season and has followed that up with four in La Liga so far this term but Campbell believes he will have a field day if he moves to Elland Road due to the number of chances that Leeds create.

“Bamford has done so well this season but they have been over-reliant on him for goals. It’s a big problem for Leeds," he told Football Insider.

“They need a couple of players who can get in the region of 10 goals a season to help Bamford out. Ocampos, now he can score. The amount of chances they create, oh my word, he will have a field day.

“For all of the talent that the likes of Harrison, Raphinha and Harrison have, none of them are in double figures for the season. “You cannot just rely on Bamford because when he gets injured, they will struggle.”
