Leeds United told they could make £40m saving on English winger by ex-Premier League manager

Leeds United have been told they will be getting a bargain if they sign loan ace Jack Harrison for £10million.

It has been reported that Leeds have negotiated a deal to snap up Harrison on a permanent basis from Manchester City at the end of the season.

A fee of around £10m has been mooted - and pundit Alex McLeish believes that would represent a sound investment for the Whites.

The former Scotland, Rangers and Aston Villa manager reckons Harrison could eventually be worth upwards of £50m if he continues to develop as he has been doing.

How will Bielsa improve defence without impacting attack?

“English players are usually much more expensive," McLeish told Football Insider.

"If it’s superstars, you’re talking £30million, £40m, £50m and beyond that.

“He’s definitely a good player. Ten mill doesn’t sound a lot in terms of the Premier League.

“I still think sometimes that if it’s not a household name, if you’re signing a foreign player that only you know well, sometimes they don’t hit the ground running, they have to get used to the different atmosphere, different surroundings.

“So he (Marcelo Bielsa) has got a ready made player there in Harrison who can be a great player for Leeds.”

Harrison is in his third season on loan at Elland Road - and has racked up nearly 100 appearances to date.

The 24-year-old is yet to taste first-team football for City since joining them in 2018.

Leeds return to action in their first game after Christmas today, when they take on Burnley at Elland Road in the midday kick-off.

Bielsa's men will be looking to bounce back from their 6-2 thumping at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford last time out.

Jack Harrison has been one player with patchy form of late, struggling against the Red Devils but performing very well days earlier versus Newcastle.
