Leeds United told not to worry about Marcelo Bielsa burn-out this season

Leeds United have been told they do not need to worry about a drop-off in Marcelo Bielsa's style of play towards the end of the season.

The Whites have played out two seven-goal thrillers since their return to the Premier League, losing to Liverpool at Anfield before seeing off Fulham at Elland Road.

That has seen Leeds become a topic of many discussions but one concern that continuously arises is whether their performances can be maintained for a full campaign.

The criticism, as it has been for the past two seasons under Bielsa, is that Leeds will struggle towards the end of the season to continue in this style.

However, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes this isn't a concern due to the reduced number of games in the top-flight.

"The talk has been before on can they do it over a 46-game campaign in the Championship but they've got less games this year in the Premier League," he told TalkSport.

"It's 38, so they've got less games to keep performing the way they do, and Bielsa's team, over the past decade or two, has always been renowned for having a bit of a drop.

"It happened in France with Marseille, they were heading at the top of the Championship, they got into the period towards the end of the season and had a dreadful run, that accusation stuck with Bielsa, that his teams do that.

"Then, of course, Leeds had the previous season where they fell away and it looked like that last season, that it might just fall away for them.

"But less games this year actually suit Leeds to keep go. I would be amazed, it's an incredible intensity that they keep playing with."
