Leeds United told not to give up on 'perfect' transfer for Liverpool star

Darren Bent has urged Leeds United not to give up in their chase for Harry Wilson.

The Whites were strongly linked with a move for the Liverpool this starlet this summer but recent reports have claimed that their interest in the 23-year-old has cooled.

Whether that is down to Liverpool's asking price for a versatile midfielder they do not wish to sell, or simply Marcelo Bielsa preferring to look at other targets is unclear.

Yet Bent is a big fan of Wilson following his impressive loan spells at Derby County and Bournemouth.

Talking up the Wales international's potential, Bent said that a move to Elland Road could well be the perfect way to unlock Wilson's talent.

Bent told Football Insider: "I watched Harry Wilson a lot when he was at Derby and a bit when he was at Bournemouth and I do really like him.

“I still don’t feel he’s reached the level I expected him to be at, especially after his season at Derby, when he went on loan to the Premier League I expected him to kick on.

“He could be a fantastic signing but we go back to this whole being settled thing – rather than going on loan to Leeds, on loan to Bournemouth, on loan to Derby, at some stage you need to settle down.

"He’s getting to an age – he’s a Wales international – where he needs to be settled and playing.

“I think Leeds could be perfect, the perfect landing spot for him.”
