Leeds United told Javi Gracia is a 'very good appointment' but relegation still beckons

Phil Babb does not expect Leeds United to avoid relegation from the Premier League, despite appointing Javi Gracia as their new manager.

Gracia's arrival ends a long and frustrating search for Marsch's successor, and the Spaniard will now have 15 games to rescue Leeds from the drop.

Although former Liverpool defender Babb believes Gracia is a 'very good appointment', he still expects the upcoming fixtures to prove too tough a test for the Whites.

"Unfortunately, looking at their fixtures, they've still got Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Man City to play just to name a few. I think it might be a season too many for them," Babb told Sky Sports News.

Babb added: "A good man, with the pedigree that can potentially galvanise them and potentially get them out of trouble. I thought he was harshly treated at Watford. He did fantastically well there and was just a victim of their rotating door policy with managers.

"But all the soundbites I've heard, him as a man manager, his ideals, the way he wants to play football is all good. It probably adds a bit of calmness and stability to post-Bielsa and post-Jesse Marsch. I think he's a very good appointment."
