Leeds United tipped to beat Aston Villa to Chelsea hero, Bristol City plot surprise Arsenal transfer as Cardiff City chase Celtic target - Championship reports

The latest transfer news from the Championship and beyond...

Clarets plot Elland Road raid

Burnley are planning a raid on Leeds United to sign Kemar Roofe and Mateusz Klich.

That’s according to the latest reports from Football Insider who suggest Leeds could be forced to sell some of their key players this summer.

Central midfielder Klich fits the bill for Sean Dyche with the Polish international only having one year left on his contract at Elland Road.

While Roofe has been previously linked with a move to Rangers and it appears Premier League interest is building.

The forward scored 15 goals in his 34 appearances for Leeds last season.

Burnley have a policy of buying players proven in English football and the Leeds duo could be the next to join the Clarets.

Meanwhile, the Elland Road side are being tipped to pip Aston Villa to the signing of Gary Cahill.

The defender has been released by Chelsea and is a free agent.

Britt attracting interest

Celtic, Bristol City and Cardiff City have all been linked with a move for Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga.

The 26-year-old, who joined Boro in a £15m deal from Nottingham Forest, is a wanted man in the summer transfer window.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has reportedly made the striker one of his key targets but the face interest from the Championship.

Both Bristol City and Cardiff City are looking to bolster their attacking options and Assombalonga offers a quality option.

Hammers set for Maupay bid

West Ham United are ready to blow their rivals out of the water with a massive bid for Brentford striker Neal Maupay.

Maupay, 22, is attracting interest from a host of Premier League with Sheffield United and Aston Villa thought to be heading the queue.

However Football Insider reports that the Hammers are now the latest suitors after missing out on Callum Wilson and Maxi Gomez.

West Ham are ready to offer him a huge pay rise and five-year contract as they look to see off the competition.

The Bees striker finished last season with an impressive 28 goals and nine assists.

Robins eye Arsenal man

Bristol City are reportedly winning the race to sign Arsenal starlet Eddie Nketiah.

Nketiah is highly-rated by the Gunners who believe his development will be best aided with a spell in the Championship.

The Robins have been long-time suitors for the 20-year-old and Lee Johnson could be about to land his man.

The Sun reports that Arsenal have decided to loan him out to Ashton Gate despite interest from Premier League clubs.
