Leeds United team news as Jesse Marsch welcomes back key men for Manchester City clash

Jesse Marsch has welcomed back a host of players this evening as Leeds United take on Manchester City at Elland Road. The Whites’ last Premier League outing came in November against Tottenham Hotspur and the head coach has made two changes from that game.

There’s no Tyler Adams, with the US international being suspended for the clash after being sent off before the World Cup break. Adam Forshaw steps into the midfield, though, as does Sam Greenwood, who replaces Crysencio Summerville in the starting XI.

Summerville limped out of Leeds’ friendly with Elche earlier this month and he has been named on the bench for today’s game. Rodrigo starts up front after missing the AS Monaco clash last week with a small knock.

Illan Meslier has been passed fit enough to play and he gets a start between the sticks against the champions. The goalkeeper missed all three of Leeds’ mid-season friendly games with glandular fever, but he returns to the line-up after being passed fit to play.

Liam Cooper has shaken off a minor calf injury to skipper the side tonight, while Jack Harrison has overcome an adductor issue to sit on the bench for the Whites. Mateusz Klich will be keen to be involved off the bench after missing last week’s Monaco game through illness.

Wilfried Gnonto gets just his second Premier League start this evening after impressing during Leeds’ mid-season friendlies.

Leeds United: Illan Meslier; Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk; Sam Greenwood, Adam Forshaw, Marc Roca; Wilfried Gnonto, Rodrigo, Brenden Aaronson

Bench: Joel Robles, Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente, Jack Harrison, Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville, Darko Gyabi, Mateusz Klich.
