Leeds United team news as Jesse Marsch makes seven changes to face Cardiff City

Jesse Marsch has made seven changes to his Leeds United line-up to take on Cardiff City in the FA Cup third round this afternoon. The Whites have their eyes on a cup run this season and Marsch will feel they have enough to secure their place in the hat for the fourth round draw.

Joe Gelhardt starts a competitive match for the first time since the World Cup break and he’ll be keen to make the most of the opportunity. The striker has struggled for consistent minutes and form this season, but after building up confidence with two goals in Leeds’ mid-season friendlies, he’ll fancy his chances of being the difference maker this afternoon.

Junior Firpo gets a rare start at left-back in a much-changed backline with Rasmus Kristensen and Diego Llorente stepping into the side to start once more. Darko Gyabi and Sam Greenwood make up United’s midfield with Marc Roca on the bench if needed.

Brenden Aaronson gets another start and he’ll be looking to rediscover some form after going through a tough run of form. New signing Max Wober is on the bench and he’ll be keen to get out and play in front of a travelling crowd of more than 6,000.

Mateo Joseph, Sonny Perkins and Cody Drameh are all included on the bench after getting 65 minutes under their belts with the Under-21s at Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

Leeds United: Joel Robles, Rasmus Kristensen, Pascal Struijk, Diego Llorente, Junior Firpo, Darko Gyabi, Sam Greenwood, Brenden Aaronson, Crysencio Summerville, Joe Gelhardt, Wilfried Gnonto

Bench: Kristoffer Klaesson, Luke Ayling, Cody Drameh, Max Wober, Marc Roca, Jack Harrison, Sonny Perkins, Rodrigo, Mateo Joseph.
