Leeds United team news as Jesse Marsch makes Georginio Rutter call for Accrington Stanley clash

Georginio Rutter will make his Leeds United debut this afternoon as the Whites take on Accrington Stanley in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Whites have named a strong side to face John Coleman’s League One side and Jesse Marsch will be confident of sealing a place in Monday’s fifth round draw.

Rutter joined the club from Hoffenheim for a club record fee earlier this month and despite being named on the bench against Brentford last time out, he didn’t get on. As such, he’ll be determined to impress today after being named in the starting line-up at the Wham Stadium.

He features in what should be a dangerous Leeds attacking line, with in-form Patrick Bamford making his first start of the calendar year. Bamford has scored three in his last three games and he’ll be looking to add to that tally this afternoon.

Illan Meslier gets the nod between the sticks and he starts behind a much-changed back line, with Rasmus Kristensen, Junor Firpo stepping into the side, either side of Robin Koch and Max Wober. There’s no Liam Cooper or Tyler Adams, who haven’t been risked due to slight knocks and that means Sam Greenwood comes into the middle of the field.

Luis Sinisterra makes his first start of the calendar year, too. Pascal Struijk and Wilfried Gnonto drop out of the squad all together.

Leeds United: Illan Meslier; Rasmus Kristensen, Robin Koch, Max Wober, Junior Firpo; Marc Roca, Sam Greenwood, Luis Sinisterra, Georginio Rutter, Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison.

Bench: Joel Robles, Dani Van den Heuvel, Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente, Darko Gyabi, Brenden Aaronson, Sonny Perkins, Rodrigo, Mateo Joseph.
