Leeds United team news as Jesse Marsch makes five changes to face Cardiff City

Jesse Marsch has made five changes to his Leeds United line-up to face Cardiff City in the FA Cup this evening. The Whites drew with Cardiff City earlier this month in Wales, but they’re keen on a cup run and they know a win tonight will set up a fourth round tie against either Accrington Stanley or Boreham Wood.

Illan Meslier starts in goal with Marsch resisting the urge to rotate in between the sticks. The head coach has chosen to switch things up in his defensive line, though, with Rasmus Kristensen coming in at right-back for the first time since he struggled to impress in South Wales earlier in the month.

Max Wober comes into the starting XI to make a full debut for the Whites and he’ll be keen to impress on his first outing at Elland Road. The head coach has kept changes to a minimum further up the field with Tyler Adams and Marc Roca keeping their spots in the middle and they’ll play alongside Sam Greenwood, who replaces Brenden Aaronson. Jack Harrison, Rodrigo and Wilfried Gnonto retain their spots in the side.

Patrick Bamford will be flying high in confidence after bagging his first goal in over a year last time out. He starts on the bench, as does Sonny Perkins, who bagged the equalising goal when the two sides met at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Luis Sinisterra also makes an appearance on the bench after overcoming the foot injury that has kept him out since October. There’s no Georginio Rutter, though.

The new signing is ineligible for tonight’s replay due to the fact he wasn’t registered at Elland Road when the original third round contest was played. Liam Cooper misses out with a knee issue.

Leeds United: Illan Meslier; Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Max Wober, Junior Firpo; Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, Sam Greenwood; Jack Harrison, Rodrigo, Wilfried Gnonto.

Bench: Joel Robles,Pascal Struijk, Luke Ayling, Darko Gyabi, Joe Gelhardt, Patrick Bamford, Sonny Perkins, Brenden Aaronson, Luis Sinisterra.
