Aston Villa handed Chelsea transfer blow; Leeds United target plays down talk of move; West Bromwich Albion keen on Newcastle United star

The end of the season in the Championship is rapidly approaching and attention has already shifted towards the summer transfer window.

A wealth of money is expected to be splashed out by clubs in England’s second-tier, especially by those who could be set to play in a different league - whether that be in the Premier League or League One.

As such, plenty of rumours are already floating around and a host of links continue to arise naming candidates who could become the latest heroes at a ground near you very soon.

With it difficult to keep on top of all the rumours and gossip, we’ve tracked some of the latest stories for you below.

Reported Leeds United target Yannick Bolasie has stated that no talks with the Championship promotion-chasers have taken place, he told Belgian outlet Walfoot, after being heavily linked with the club.

It had been suggested that the 29-year-old, currently on loan with Anderlecht after spending the first half of the campaign in the Championship with Aston Villa, is a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side if they clinch promotion.

Chelsea set to face £30m bids for striker on loan at Aston Villa; Leeds United close in on summer signing; Newcastle United plot triple West Brom swoop

Meanwhile, the Peacocks are in a shootout with Leicester City for the services of Braga defender Bruno Viane, reports from Leicestershire Live state, who could be available for a fee of between £8-10m.

The 24-year-old has been a regular fixture in the side for Braga this season, making 27 appearances as his club sit fourth in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Title-chasing Norwich City also seem keen on raiding Portugal for talent ahead of their expected return to the Premier League next season, with SportWitness citing reports that state the Canaries sent scouts to keep tabs on a game on Friday.

It is claimed that Norwich were surprisingly the only English side to have representatives keeping an eye on the game between Benfica and Feirense, although it does not mention who Daniel Farke’s side were tracking.

West Brom have been given an avenue to sign Isaac Hayden from Newcastle United this summer as Chronicle Live reports the former Arsenal man has informed the Magpies he wants to seek an exit.

The 24-year-old wants to be closer to his young family and saw a transfer request rejected by the club last July, although he has not given up his hopes of a chance of scenery this summer to bring him closer to home.

A deal for Hayden may not be the only business West Brom and Newcastle complete together this summer though, as TeamTalk states the Magpies are ready to approve permanent deals for loanees Dwight Gayle and Jacob Murphy.

Manchester United set to copy £200m Liverpool approach; Arsenal £50m target opens up over rumours; Chelsea keen on summer deal

However, Rafael Benitez’s side want players in return as they seek to make Salomon Rondon’s move to St. James’ Park permanent and also want to complete deals for Jake Livermore and Kieran Gibbs.

Birmingham City could also be raided by a Premier League side, as Football Insider states Everton chief Marcel Brands believes Che Adams is the perfect signing for the Toffees this summer.

The 22-year-old has been in sensational form this season, netting 22 goals in the Championship, and has been linked with a host of top-flight clubs in recent months.

Finally, Football Insider also reports that Aston Villa’s chances of landing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on a permanent basis are bleak as RB Leipzig are readying a whopping £30m bid for the striker.

The 22-year-old has been in electric form during his loan spell at Villa Park this season but his long-term future remains up in the air due to the competition he faces at parent club Chelsea.
