Hibernian boss Jack Ross says it would not be a pipe dream for Leeds United Josh Doig to emulate the successes of Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney.
The Whites are said to be interested in the left-back, who has enjoyed an excellent 2020/21 campaign in the Scottish Premiership, but they face competition from both Celtic and Arsenal.
Doig recently signed a new contract until 2025, meaning Hibs should be able to command a substantial fee should the 18-year-old move elsewhere.
The teenager has made only 24 appearances for Hibs during his breakthrough campaign, having spent part of last season on loan at Scottish League Two side Queen's Park, but Ross does not seem surprised that he is attracting attention from clubs.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Ross was asked if Doig could emulate compatriots Arsenal star Kieran Tierney and Liverpool's Andy Robertson.
Whilst the Hibs boss said it is early days for the teenager, he feels it is not setting the bar too high for Doig to compare himself with those players.
He said: "We run away with ourselves very quickly when young players make a big impression.
"But Josh undoubtedly has a mindset and temperament allied to really modern attributes as a full-back, which will enable him to have a really good career.
"There are parts of his game he needs to improve on but I think he can improve them, which is key.
"If he can get to the levels of the guys mentioned that would be outstanding but it’s not a pipe dream for him to have that sort of ambition."
