Leeds United talisman Kalvin Phillips shares five-word injury update ahead of Wolves

Leeds United supporters will be hoping this weekend sees the return of England international Kalvin Phillips.

The 25-year-old was rested for the trip to Southampton last Saturday, and despite travelling with the squad, found himself left out of the 20-man selection altogether.

As a result, Marcelo Bielsa named seven teenagers on his substitutes' bench, while on the pitch the Whites were defeated 1-0 without registering a single shot on target.

There is hope that this weekend, Phillips will be fit enough to return from a persistent hip problem, as well as a calf issue that saw him withdraw from England's World Cup qualifiers earlier this month.

Phillips has become an integral part of Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad, usurping Jordan Henderson for a starting role over the past 12 months.

Posting on Twitter on Thursday afternoon, Phillips shared what appeared to be an update on his fitness ahead of this weekend's fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Portuguese-infused Midlands club have won four and lost four this season, across eight Premier League matches, and the belief is that a positive result for the home side may hinge on Phillips' inclusion.

Phillips tweeted: "Can't wait to be back" followed by a smiling emoji, as well as the battery pack emoji, somewhat suggesting he is close to a return.

Accompanying the tweet were three images, seemingly showing the defensive midfielder in training this week, which is certainly a positive sign if his comeback is to be this weekend.

Fellow absentee Luke Ayling has also been pictured back out on the grass this week, after the English right-back had undergone minor surgery to solve a knee problem picked up at Newcastle United last month.
