Leeds United supporters outline key worry after Leif Davis seals Ipswich Town transfer

Leeds United defender Leif Davis has sealed a permanent switch to Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee. Davis has penned a three-year-deal at Portman Road and leaves after 14 appearances during his time in West Yorkshire.

The 22-year-old’s departure leaves Leeds without a fit recognised left back across either of their senior and U21 squads. First choice Junior Firpo is currently on the sidelines for around eight weeks after picking up an injury in the club’s first pre-season friendly against Blackpool.

Leo Hjelde is the closest the Whites have to a left back, though his preferred position remains at the heart of defence. Jack Harrison and Pascal Struijk have also spent time there in pre-season, though again, they are better elsewhere.

There are just 12 days until Leeds kick off the new season against Wolves and the clock is ticking for Victor Orta to get a new face into the building. Here is how Leeds fans have reacted to Davis’ departure, and the lack of left back.

@SneakyScoffer: “Leeds: we’ve got no left backs. Also Leeds: sells only fit left back.”

@SmithLeedsUtd: “Goodbye Leif, thankyou for wearing our shirt, good luck and all best wishes to you for the future.”

@alaw61: “0 left backs now.”

@JosephPSM99: “So, we now, officially, have one single left back at the club and he spends half his time on the injury table. I hope there is something lined up here, because we are in real trouble if not.”

@ChrisGray1201: “Selling our only other LB? Surely another signing is imminent.”

@AshJohnson20: “Is that now zero fit left backs at the club then?”

@jimlufc90: “Now buy a proper left back and stop playing centre backs in that position.”

@camgibbon: “We must be getting a new left back surely.”
