Leeds United suffer major injury blow in what could be boost to Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion and Bristol City or Derby County

Leeds United forward Ezgjan Alioski will miss the rest of the campaign after tearing his knee during yesterday’s clash with Brentford.

The Macedonian international is expected to undergo surgery later this afternoon and, as a result, will be unavailable for the duration of Leeds’ promotion chase.

Alioski has played a vital role for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season, playing 47 times and grabbing seven goals.

United’s director of football, Victor Orta, has expressed his sadness at the news - insinuating it’s a huge blow.

World famous data analyst predicts Championship finish - where Leeds United, Bristol City, Middlesbrough, Derby County and Aston Villa come

“We are disappointed by the news that Gjanni is unlikely to play again this season,” said Orta.

“He has shown his quality throughout the year playing in various positions, he is a popular figure around the club who always puts his team mates first and sets an example for the younger players.”

The Whites travel to Aston Villa on Sunday looking to keep their automatic promotion hopes alive.
